The "Coordination Action" CONRAD (A Coordinated Network for Radiation Dosimetry) is a project sponsored by the EC within its 6th Framework Programme. Partners of this project are the TU Delft (NL) (administrative coordinator), EURADOS and the University Sankt Gallen (CH). The project started on 2005-01-01 and will be completed at 2007-12-31.
Project objectives
The objectives of the project are the analysis of the options for sustainable networks linking research actors and end users and to coordinate research into measurements and calculations for radiation protection at workplaces.
To achieve the stated objectives seven work packages (WP) are carried out.
WP1 includes the necessary slim, but effective scientific/technical and administrative/financial management by a steering committee.

WP2 covers a feasibility study for a future sustainable network in radiation protection dosimetry, based on an analysis of existing European networks in this field. It will analyse the picture of European research in dosimetry, its fragmentation to the various labs and the potential needs to decrease fragmentation by redistributing or concentrating research activities, collecting statements of senior management staff in these institutes on their intention to reshape their research topics in harmonisation with other institutes.

WP3 includes the dissemination of knowledge achieved by the research coordinated within WP4-WP7 of the project, for example via the ERRS newsletter, publications, workshops and conferences. Training will be integrated as part of workshops and conferences where deemed feasible and appropriate. It is obvious that a close link between this WP and WP4-WP7 is needed.

Four WPs are on coordinating research organised as working groups. The instruments primarily used are meetings in order to carry out studies or analyses, and to prepare and analyse benchmark exercises, i.e. intercomparison of experimental and computational methods.
