WP3. Dissemination of knowledge
Objectives
With the aim to spread awareness and knowledge, the prompt dissemination of the accumulated results and expertise of the proposed project is realised via the ERRS newsletter, publications, workshops and conferences. This work package serves as the backbone of the Communication Action Plan.
These efforts comprise
- Newsletter and website - utilisation of the ERRS Newsletter ("European Research in Radiological Sciences", ISSN 1627-3699, www.euradnews.org), developed in collaboration with EULEP (European late effects project group) to increase both the interactivity within the network and the dissemination to a broader audience
- Workshops and conferences results of research coordinated within this project will be presented for wider dissemination in workshops and conferences hosted under the traditional umbrella of EURADOS, where most key players in research are represented as well as a growing number of end users. A number of workshops are already foreseen, based on further discussion with the relevant work packages. Decisions will be made on work-package internal events or larger dissemination activities (topics decided or under discussion: Individual Monitoring [Vienna 2005], internal dosimetry [Montpellier, 2006], neutron dosimetry [Uppsala, 2006], methods and instruments for aircrew dosimetry, computational dosimetry). Budgeting will rely on workshop fees, a small EC contribution will be devoted for invitation of key European speakers.
- Training - the working groups formed in support of WP4 to WP7 contribute to the training of young scientists and thus motivate new aptitudes and facilitating their integration in the specific area of radiation protection in the workplace.
- Databases already established under previous contracts, a database of irradiation facilities and special equipment for dosimetry research is enhanced and promoted to ensure widest possible participation with a view to aid the coordination of research. This database, presently held on the NPL website and available via the EURADOS website, was created under FP5. It is operational, but is not fully populated with all the relevant facilities. Effort is required to contact all organisations which should have entries in the database, and to ensure that its features function correctly when all appropriate entries are made.
Milestones and deliverables
Deliverables are the proceedings of the various workshops, publications in the ERRS Newsletter and the updated database on irradiation facilities.
