The database on irradiation facilities and special equipment for dosimetry research enables you to find a specific facility in Europe or to enter data of your own facilities.

Aim and work plan of WG 1

The working group will carry on the EURADOS work package 2 "Collection and dissemination of information on resources in the EU regarding irradiation facilities and special equipment for dosimetry research". In order to reach its objective, the advancement of scientific understanding and the technical development of the dosimetry of ionising radiation, EURADOS stimulates collaboration between European laboratories, specially those of the European Communities, which do not necessarily well identify their means and capabilities for dosimetry research. In particular, several EU laboratories operate expensive, often unique, research facilities with specifications which are not necessarily well known within the community.

WG 1 is undertaking the collection and dissemination of information on irradiation facilities and special equipment for dosimetry research within the EU. The aim of this exercise is to provide information to researchers in radiation dosimetry to enable them to choose the most appropriate facilities for their work, it is a means for those who operate the facilities to advertise what they can supply and it provides a way to increase co-operation within the EU.

The Irradiation Facilities Working Group will survey these facilities and collect the technical documentation describing their characteristics as well as administrative information how end- users can have access to these equipment's for the purpose of their research programmes. A report will be published and the information will be designed in a suitable form to be integrated in the EURADOS web site and the EULEP/ EURADOS Newsletter.

As a first step, the work plan foresees to distribute in the second half of the year a questionnaire currently under preparation in order to achieve a preliminary mapping of facilities in Europe used for dosimetry research.
