WG 7 - Internal Dosimetry (CONRAD WP5)
Objectives
The objective of this WP is the coordination of research work on
assessment and evaluation of internal exposures. The research to be
coordinated includes
- uncertainties
associated with the assessment of doses after intake of
radionuclides and the refinements of the IDEAS (FP5 project) general
guidelines for internal dose evaluation after first application by
internal dosimetry services

- studies
on biokinetic models. The impact of the applications of new models
for dose assessment is to be evaluated. Specific models to be
included in the study are the new Human Alimentary Tract (HAT) model
and the NCRP wound model besides other revised systemic models;
- new
developments on the use of voxel phantoms and Monte Carlo
applications to in-vivo assessment of intakes have to be evaluated (Intercomparison
on
Monte Carlo
modelling for in
vivo measurements of Americium in a knee phantom)
- interpretation
of monitoring data for emergency workers after accidental or
deliberate releases of radionuclides (e.g. nuclear terrorism).

maintenance
and update of IDEAS bibliographic and internal contamination
databases, as well as the evaluation database (http://www.sckcen.be/ideas

Contamination Database, we are very interested in these cases. Please,

Milestones
and deliverables
The
deliverables include regular reports on activities and achievements,
updated internal dosimetry databases and scientific publications.
